Our client is currently seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive structural analysis on a variety of aerospace components. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our cutting-edge projects and the advancement of aerospace technology. What You'll Do: Perform Structural Analysis: Conduct detailed structural analysis on spacecraft, instruments, payloads, optics, mechanisms, and ground support equipment. Utilize Advanced Techniques: Apply both closed form and finite element analysis techniques in stress analysis and structural dynamics to ensure the integrity and performance of critical structures. Develop Loads and Environments: Create accurate loads and environments for structures and components, contributing to the reliability and success of aerospace missions. Support Testing: Be involved in structural and environmental testing, including static, modal, acoustic, shock, and vibration tests, ensuring all components meet rigorous standards. Detailed Reporting: Write comprehensive reports for test and analysis activities, providing valuable insights and documentation for ongoing and future projects. Maintain Work Schedule: Ensure a regular and predictable work schedule. Collaborate Effectively: Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company. Positive Work Environment: Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or remote research environment.May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.May access other facilities in various weather conditions. Required Education, Experience, & Skills: Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required. Each higher-level degree, such as a Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.Experience: 6 or more years of related experience in mission systems, spacecraft systems, ground systems, or payload systems.Nastran Expertise: Experience with Nastran, including static, modal, buckling, and frequency response analysis.Security Clearance: An active Secret clearance is required.Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Multitasking Ability: The ability to support multiple efforts and manage competing priorities. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills: Advanced Degree: A Master of Science Degree in a structures-related field.FEM Applications: Experience with FEM applications such as Explicit, Transient, Nonlinear, Multibody Dynamics, Line of Sight, and Jitter.Structural Analysis: Expertise in structural analysis of bolted and bonded joints, welds, electronics, antennas, fracture, and fatigue.Materials Knowledge: Familiarity with materials such as composites, ceramics, and other high-temperature materials.
