Head Engineer Nordic Nano develops and commercialises cutting-edge solar energy harvesting and energy storage solutions by applying advanced screen printing and nanomaterials technologies. Our solutions significantly enhance solar energy utilisation and electrical conductivity, bringing to market products that efficiently harvest energy even from scattered and low-intensity light. Our products are nontoxic, lightweight, durable, mouldable, fire-safe, and free from rare earth metals. At our manufacturing facility in Imatra, Finland, we will commence production of carbon-based solar films and panels, as well as solid-state salt batteries. These innovations will greatly enhance the utilisation of solar wavelengths and provide balanced power, optimising energy usage in a safe and responsible manner for our customers. Position overviewWe’re looking for a hands-on, inquisitive, and self-driven person with a technical background ready to dive into the pioneering field of nanomaterial screen printing. As this technology continues to evolve rapidly, the specialised expertise in the field may not yet be widely available. Therefore, we highly value a strong foundation in related technical disciplines, adaptability, and a proactive approach to learning. We seek someone eager to explore, experiment, and contribute to shaping the future. In this role, you’ll work on launching a pilot production line, implementing new technologies, and tackling real-world challenges. Key responsibilities Production management: Oversee the production processes with AI supported production management systems, ensuring efficiency, quality control, and adherence to industry standards.R&D: Participating in the development of cutting-edge nanomaterials and screen-printing technologies. Project management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful completion.Technical expertise: Developing proficiency in providing technical support and guidance on nanomaterials and screen-printing techniques, troubleshooting challenges, and implementing effective solutions.Team leadership: Growing into a role that guides and supports a team of engineers, technicians, and other professionals, cultivating a collaborative and innovative work culture.Quality assurance: Develop and implement quality control protocols to ensure the highest standards of product performance and reliability.Documentation and reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of R&D activities, production processes, and team performance, reporting to senior management as required.Continuous improvement: Continuously seek out opportunities for making our production and products more planet-friendly with materials applications, process optimisation and cost reduction. What you needEducation: Strong technical background in manufacturing/process industry e.g. in production and/or materials engineeringExperience: 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing/process industry or production developmentFinancial acumen: Understanding cost-effective manufacturing strategies and contributing to the economic viability of Nordic Nano’s products and solutionsProject Management: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines effectivelyAnalytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detailCommunication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, German and Finnish is a plus, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and conciselyInnovation: A passion for innovation and continuous improvement in R&D processes and product development What would be a plusStrong knowledge of nanomaterials, their properties, and applications in screen printing technologies, e.g. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or related field.Experience in R&D and production within the nanomaterials and/or screen-printing industry.Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team of professionals.
